All-Party Parliamentary Group for American Football publishes meetings calendar
The All-Party Parliamentary Group for American Football has published dates for its first series of meetings to take place under its new structure welcoming non-Parliamentary members.
The first meeting will take place on 24th October 2017 in the Palace of Westminster and is open to MPs, Peers and Associate Members of the Group. 2018 meetings are scheduled for 23rd April and 17th July with a possible charity event taking place between.
The new format was established in early September as the Group reformed for the current Parliament. As well as a new online presence through website www.parliamentary.football and twitter account @ParliamentAFG, one of the major developments for the Group was establishing membership levels for individuals, teams, clubs and other organisations to enable fans and those involved in the game to attend meetings and other activities and discuss issues with Members.
The Group is Chaired by Wellingborough MP Peter Bone. He said “Members of the Group are very pleased with the start the Group has made since it was reformed in this Parliament only a few weeks ago.
“We’ve had great interest online and people and organisations are already joining the Group. Now that we have a series of meetings in place, we can start talking to people involved in the sport as well as those who – like us – are fans. I am looking forward to the first meeting in this new format, and meeting our new members.
“I encourage those who have an interest in the game to get involved and come to meetings in Parliament. That way, MPs and Peers can hear what is important and seek to support the sport as it grows.”
